BRANDON, DAUPHIN, WINNIPEG ASSOCIATION CHALLENGE 2024
This year on October 19, 2024, the Association Challenge was hosted by the Winnipeg Tenpin Bowling Association. Next in the rotation is the trip to Brandon for 2025. A fun tournament with only bragging rights and a plaque with the winning Association’s bowler’s names on it up for grabs.
A big shout out to Jody Scott, Ron and Geri Molinski as the only bowlers who have participated in all the challenge matches thus far and that would be 17 years. Even though Ron and Geri did not bowl they did a great job making sure everything ran smoothly. Also a big thank you to Blair Chaban and Rhonda Chaban from Bowl Below for getting the bowling establishment ready for the Challenge and making sure everything ran smoothly which it did.
This year instead of having the usual banquet style meal a great meal was ordered from Mary Brown's Chicken on McPhillips which was enjoyed by everyone. All said that it was a great change for the meal. A big thanks to Pat Wight for looking after the snacks during the day and for the dessert after the meal. A 50/50 was held and half of the proceeds went to one winner and the other half went to drivers that drove in for the Challenge as a gas allowance.
The low game of the tournament was 78 and the high game was 236. The low 4 game series was 453 and the high 4 game series was 825. As last year in Dauphin there were only 4 games bowled instead of the usual 5 games. This way the travelling associations could get home sooner and the supper didn’t have to be rushed through. Everyone that bowled liked the new format and it will probably be adopted by the other associations.
As always it was great seeing members of the other bowling associations and socialize with all. The new bowlers that have never participated in the challenge before said they cannot wait until nest season so the can participate again.
