This event, which combines these two tournaments into a “joint event”, took place on Sunday, February 25, 2024 at Laverendrye Lanes. The unique part of this event is that bowlers can bowl their four games in the Allan Boes handicap tournament, and have their best 3 games count towards their scores for the Five-Divisional Scratch tournament, if they opt to pay the additional prize money for the 2nd tournament. You’ll notice, they take only their 3 best games to count towards their scores in the Five-Divisional. Yes, they can literally “discard” their worst game. What a bonus!
We had 28 entries for the Allan Boes, and EVERY SINGLE PERSON opted to go into the Five-Divisional as well! This had never happened in the previous seasons. That made things easier for the tournament staff!
Congratulations to Alex Gelardi, the winner of the Allan Boes tournament. He bowled a sizzling 816 total for his 4 games (fantastic bowling for his 157 average), and when combined with his handicap of 332, he ended up with a total of 1148. Well done Alex!
