Allan Boes Memorial & Five-Divisional Tournaments

Several years ago, we tried running these two tournaments simultaneously, giving bowlers a chance to have their scores count towards both of these tournaments. The Allan Boes is a mixed singles, handicapped, 4-game event. And the 5-Divisional is a 3-game mixed singles scratch event, where each bowler is placed in one of 5 Divisions, based on their average, where they then compete against only those in their average class. One of the “perks” of the 5-Divisional is that you are bowling 4 games, but you get to discard your worst game, and only count you best 3 games. The combining of these two tournaments has proven to be quite popular with our bowlers.
This year’s winner of the Allan Boes tournament is Jim Dobbin. And the winners of the 5-Divisional were: Div 1 – Tyler Groening ; Div 2 – Lucien Casagrande ; Div 3 – Dereck Mills ; Div 4 – Daryl Avena ; Div 5 – Jim Dobbin.
Congratulations to all of them! Jim will have a paid entry into next year’s event, when he will try to defend the title.
There were a total of 26 entries this year, with 22 of them opting to have their scores count for both tournaments. We paid the top 9 positions in the Allan Boes (paying out 1 in 3 is our standard).
There was a lot of great bowling, good competition, and camaraderie. The Winnipeg Tenpin Bowling Association appreciates the support from our bowling community. We hope to see you out for future tournaments too!
