The winners of the draws for our “door prizes” are listed after the Standings section below.
This year the Winnipeg Tenpin Bowling Association’s 100th Annual Tournament had 178 entries – up from 82 last year.
The opening ceremonies were held on Sunday, January 31, 2016. Councillor Matt Allard from St. Boniface and Ken Burns from the Manitoba Tenpin Federation were in attendance to throw out the first bowling balls of the tournament. After a little instruction to Mr. Allard, he was ready for the opening shot. The two of them threw at the same time and Matt got a 6-count but Ken, “The Pin Crusher”, got a strike. Thanks to both Councillor Allard and Ken Burns for being a part of the opening ceremonies of the 100th Annual. Both received a commemorative 100th Annual coffee mug from the Winnipeg Tenpin Bowling Association.
Thanks to all the sponsors of the 100th Annual Tournament – without your support it would not have been the success that it was. Thanks to Winnipeg TBA, Manitoba Tenpin Federation, Cellar Dweller Hobby Supplies, Hillis Insurance, Chateau Lanes, SDQ LaVerendrye Bowling Lanes, Midas Muffler, Ace Massage Therapy, Marion Marko, Hugh Letain, Wanda Howard, Pat Wight and Pam’s Flowers.
Every bowler that participated in the tournament received a 100th anniversary coffee cup.
The Winnipeg Tenpin Bowling Association would like to thank Ed McCarthy and the staff at SDQ LaVerendrye Bowling Lanes for their courteous service during our Tournament. Thanks to Ron Molinski (Tournament Director), Wanda Howard, Elaine Yamron, Eleanor Young, Stephen Logan, Helen Fenk, Lynda Seewald, Faith Porth, Dan Tereck, Peter Wight, Pat Wight, Richard Porth, Doug Ross and Raymond Jobin who all came out to help run the Tournament – without you it would not have run as smoothly as it did. Thanks to Elaine Yamron for getting us the commemorative bowling pin and to Marion Marko for doing the stenciling on it. Also, thanks to Wanda Howard for arranging to have a banner depicting the 100th Anniversary on display and for acquiring the anniversary coffee mugs.
And of course, thanks to all that took part in our Tournament. Without your participation it would not have been the success that it was.
Congratulations to all the Tournament winners.
The 100th Anniversary bowling pin was won by Doug Ross, for having the high game with handicap: 300 + 26 hdcp = 326. By the way, Doug’s 300 game was the 3rd perfect game ever rolled in the Annual Tournament, as far as we know.
Our next tournament is the Marinelli City Singles Tournament (Mar 5-6), with the first day (qualifying) at SDQ LaVerendrye Bowling Lanes starting at 12:00 PM and the second day (Finals) at Chateau Bowling Lanes at 10:00 AM. This will be the second year that both Men and Women will be competing for the City Singles.
The A & H “Strike out Cancer” Doubles is being held on March 22nd at SDQ LaVerendrye Bowling Lanes with 2 shifts – 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM.
Hope to see you there at these tournaments.
